Ash-Ley Ogle may have left her Big Brother Mzansi days behind, but she’s certainly not short of support from her dedicated fan base. The 26-year-old reality TV star has received an outpouring of help, thanks to a GoFundMe campaign she set up to help rebuild her life after her unexpected eviction.
According to The South African, Ash-Ley, who was eliminated not by fan voting but by a vote from her fellow housemates, created the campaign to assist her as she gets back on her feet. In her GoFundMe statement, she shared that her stay in the house was cut short due to the peer vote, which meant she didn’t have the usual fan votes deciding her fate. “Unfortunately, her stay was cut short not from the usual process of elimination by fans but from votes from her peers in the house. This cut short her experience and people who support her all over the world would like to pool in resources to help her build her life back up,” the statement explained.
The campaign has received massive support, raising over R150,000 since it launched. The largest single donation, an anonymous contribution, was around R11,000. With 282 donations to date, Ash-Ley’s campaign still has a long way to go to reach its target of R900,000.
Ash-Ley’s journey on Big Brother was cut short when a sudden eviction took her out of the race for the R2 million prize. Contestants had to vote on who should leave, and Ash-Ley tied with fellow housemate Nsuku, each receiving four votes. The tie was broken by Head of House Swiss, who chose Ash-Ley to leave the house. Reflecting on her time in the house, Ash-Ley shared her surprise with IOL, saying, “It kept on surprising me from the time I submitted my audition video up until the day I left the house. It was full of surprises because, at first, I didn’t think I was going to get in. I didn’t even think my audition video was good enough.”
Looking ahead, Ash-Ley is excited about the future. She revealed plans to pursue a career in acting, scriptwriting, and fashion. Fans will get the chance to see her in public for the first time since her eviction, as she’s set to join The Love Tour at the Playhouse in Durban on 1 March.
