Ash-ley Ogle Celebrates Two Major Wins at the South African Social Media Awards

Content creator and brand ambassador Ash-ley Ogle had a memorable night at the South African Social Media Awards (SASMA) on 22 November 2025. She walked away with two big titles — Popular Hashtag on Social Media and Emerging Social Media Personality of the Year. Ash-key Igle was nominated for three categories in total. She received nominations for Emerging Social Media Personality of the Year, Most Popular Hashtag on Social Media, and Best Social Media Newcomer of the Year. Winning two out of the three nominations is a major achievement, and many fans celebrated with her online.

But the night also came with some drama. A TikTok video shared from the event showed Ash-ley not accepting one of her awards. In the video, she said, “I want to start off by thanking God and then secondly I want I want to thank my Ashes and Ash Angels because it wouldn’t be possible without you. I did say that if I don’t get 3 out of 3 this award belongs to anyone. So I’m about to leave it here you guys. Thank you so much.”

Later in the event, when Ash-let Ogle was announced as the winner for Emerging Social Media Personality of the Year, she explained what happened earlier. She said, “I think I started off taking the first award on the wrong note because I was supposed to put my Ashes and Ash Angles first. They literally stood on calls and votes for me. The award belongs to them. What I meant to say I don’t take what what my family doesn’t deserve. I feel like they deserved more and they deserved better. I am someone that’s authentic and if I say what I say, it means I’m going to do it. I also stand up for what’s right and if it’s right I’m going to say it. So in terms of brands, when brands come I have won awards where people didn’t have to pay money for them. I’ve won global awards where people just voted for me out of statistics and I’m very thankful for that. This one unfortunately we had to raise a lot. I’m not going to be cancelled because I have a platform now to speak.”
