They say the best way to teach a child is to lead by example. So the best way to teach a child to dream is by achieving your dreams too, right?
Lynn Forbes has decided to do exactly that! The beautiful and glamorous grandmother, glammy as she calls herself, plans to achieve her lifetime dream of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in honour of her granddaughter, Kairo Owethu Forbes.
Lynn normally guest blogs on DJ Zinhle’s MOMents blog and her recent blog is about how little Kairo has inspired her to reach for her dreams.
In the blog she writes: “For as long as I can remember my biggest dream has been to climb to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. I have imagined every detail of this adventure since I was in primary school…” She explains that she’s been delaying her dream for the longest of time now.
Lynn expresses that as soon as Kairo was born a few things changed for her: “Two weeks ago when I held Kairo, my granddaughter, for the first time, I looked at her and the first thought that came into my head was this: ‘I will climb Kilimanjaro before I turn 50, not for anyone but myself, because I want to teach you to have big dreams, set goals and see them through’. Since then not a day has passed without me doing something about my dream…”
She added: “Dreams are free and they are easy. I needed a trigger to turn my dream into a goal. The birth of my granddaughter provided that trigger. Kairo has become my inspiration for achieving my goal… Kairo and Madiba…”
We guess that a little baby girl can bring nothing but positive energy into anyone’s life and first-time granny Lynn is making the best of her time with the angel. We really hope that she will achieve her dreams soon with Kairo there every step of the way.
