What was meant to be a day to celebrate life the Masebe family sadly lost a very young one.
Film and television star Florence Masebe was celebrating her 43rd birthday, when her 18-month-old son, Masakona, drowned in a pool on Saturday afternoon.
The tragic accident happened in Bramley, in northern Johannesburg and the actresses home.
Police cluster spokesman Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela confirmed that indeed little Masakona drowned in a Bramley home over the weekend.
Maphakela was unable to explain how the accident happened and whether or not Florence was present at the time of the drowning.
“Police and emergency services were called to the house after the child drowned. The child was certified dead at the scene,” he said.
