Turns out it’s not just Bongani Fassie who also got the music talent in the family after Brenda as another Fassie has emerged to carry on the legacy.
A young, up and coming Cape Town based musician known as Gemma Fassie and yes related to the great Brenda Fassie and Bongani Fassie, has gone viral on social media. This comes after Bongani Fassie tweeted a video of her singing Tamia’s Officially Missing You which got an applause from the likes of DJ Black Coffee and Gigi Lamayne. It’s safe to say the singer’s fanbase has grown since then as tweeps are predicting her stardom and calling for her to portray her late aunt in a biopic.
It seems Gemma is already known in the industry and this could be the viral moment that makes her a household name. The young star who already has a 3 track EP out called After Hours. The 23 year old counts Jhene Aiko, UMI and Lauryn Hill as some of her music influences. The video shared by Bonangi on twitter has already been watched over 132k times. We can’t wait to see what young Gemma does next.
