AKA Was Asked If He Is Safe To Tour Nigeria, Here Is What He Said. Music fans across the continent have been curious to really know the state of once close friends AKA and Burna Boy’s relationship behind the scenes. This follows their heated exchanged on twitter a few years back as they both defended their countries.
AKA recently sat down with our sister platform, SA Hip Hop Mag to talk about his album, being a business man, Amapiano and industry friendships. The Lemonade rapper didn’t hold back and shed some light on how feels about Burna Boy who was recently in the country to perform at the DSTV Delicious Festival.
“I’m SupaMega, I’m safe everywhere in the world bro. What you talking about ‘am I safe?’…..what kind of question is that,” AKA responded. Asked when he last spoke to the Last, Last hitmaker, AKA said maybe a year or two ago and it was casual. “I’m very happy to…it was never about anything personal. I just don’t like people talking sh*t about my country. It’s that simple. People were talking about ‘there’s a genocide in South Africa, abo Tiwa Savage talking about ‘they killing our people’. It was bullsh*t. It was cap. If I have to take that on my back and people crucify me then f*ck it,” he explained.
Asked if their relationship was dope before the twitter exchange, AKA said they had been speaking before that either and also feels like artists don’t always have to be best friends.
“This thing of like artists have to be best friends is so weird to me. We don’t have to be besties. So, I mean congratulations. Wish him all the best. Grammy winner, amazing. Love his music, that’s cool man. I’m just a fan of his music. I might not be fam of him right now, at least I can still be a fan. It’s cool, no problem,” AKA said.
