Actress Asavela Mngqithi Calls Out Her Famous Father For Being A Deadbeat. Newly married actress Asavela Mngqithi now Mqokiyana has a lot to celebrate about lately. She has become a sought after actress having had success on her debut television show, Isibaya and later AboMama. In her personal life, she is living in new marital bliss and recently completed her mansion with her husband.

What most people might not know is Asavela’s father is Premier Soccer League football coach, Manqoba Mngqithi who is currently the Head coach at Mamelodi Sundowns football club. Following alleged reports that the coach had been talking about Asavela in interviews, the actress took to twitter to share her side of the story. She called out her father for not being a present parent growing up and shared how she has worked hard for everything she has.

“Whatever I have/will still achieve, never credit all my hard work to Manqoba Mngqithi and his money,” Asavela tweeted adding that she “suffered financially until I made it without his support”. “Love and light I guess,” the actress said.

“My mom took me to school with my step dad and high school Muslims gave me a bursary. I just want him to stop lying. I’ve never said anything about him I’ve chosen to just say no comment until yesterday in all my radio and newspaper interviews but he keeps doing interviews as a support father and that’s annoying,” she added.

Back in 2019, Asavela opened up about dropping out of AFDA in her third year saying, “Me dropping out of AFDA was obviously a financial problem. I couldn’t pay for my third year and I had to drop out in my last semester. Part of me was really angry because I felt like I had worked so hard even though I didn’t have a lot of things to help me get to the third year and I feel like it was unfair….but things happen.”

Whilst her real father was not present, she has also previously opened up about her former TV father in Isibaya, Bongani Gumede saying, “I’m very close with my on screen dad, he’s more like a dad to me, so everyday he teaches me things cause he did theatre and he’s a great actor. He has taught me a lot, I never feel uncomfortable when I have to ask him something or ask for help, you know.”
