Somizi Reportedly Set To Make A Return On The New Season Of SA Idols. Somizi’s career may have hit a bit of a rough patch last year but the TV mogul is back with a bang. The reality star was booted from Idols SA as a judge following abuse allegations that were made against him by his estranged husband Mohale Motaung. After the abuse allegations made headlines, the masses called for the seasoned judge to be removed from his working gigs as other alleged abusers have been made to do in the past as well.
A dooming audio clip from an interview between Mohale and producers of Living The Dream With Somizi reality show made the rounds where Mohale revealed in detail how the abuse started at the beginning of their relationship. Things went south even further when Mohale released a statement confirming the abuse allegations and detailed the number of times that Somizi physically harmed him.
It was then reported that the popular singing competition had decided to officially cut ties with Somizi and relieved him from his duties as a judge during season 17 of SA Idols. He was also temporarily let go as a radio personality on Metro FM as well. Following his removal, it didn’t take long for the ratings of the annual singing competition to plummet as viewers claimed the show was boring without Somizi’s larger-than-life personality.
The people of twitter have been begging for Somizi’s return to the show and it looks like their prayers have finally been answered by the Gods of entertainment.
It has been reported by The City Press publication that Somizi will be returning as a guest judge for Season 18 of Idols SA. Somizi has allegedly been given the green light by the production because he is without a doubt the life of the show. A source close to the production told the publication that there was a huge difference when he was not on the show, in terms of declining viewership which explains his sudden return.
Idols SA spokesperson Lucky Mangena apparently did not want to confirm Somizi’s return, but did however confirm that auditions for season 18 of the show will be starting on January 23rd.
The outspoken celeb was also confirmed to have bagged a new gig on Moja Love as the presenter of a new dating show. The show called Lovey Dovey will give a couple the chance to walk away with R500,000 for their dream wedding. The reality TV show will be TXing in February 2022 and Somgaga will be sharing his hosting duties with actress Gabisile Tshabalala.
Welcome back Som Som!!
