Record Breaking Gauteng New Mom Of 10 Babies Reaches Out To Mzansi For Help. Raising a child in this economy can be a challenge of its own, so you can imagine the strain that comes with raising a total of ten children. A 37 year old Gauteng woman by the name of Gosiame Thamara Sithole made the headlines recently after breaking a world record and giving birth to a total of ten children also known as decuplets.
Sithole gave birth to her bundles of joy at 29 weeks on Monday and it seems as though she has broken a world record for the most babies born at one time. You may remember a few weeks ago, the media reporting that a woman named Malian Halima Cissé, held the Guinness World Record for the most babies born at one time after she gave birth to nine children (nonuplets) in Morocco.
Sithole has stripped Malian of her title after birthing one additional child. Gosiame who conceived seven boys and three girls was initially told by doctors that she will be having eight children during her medical scans. Sithole who is a retail store manager by profession has told the media that she won’t be able to return to work due to her new situation.
The new mom shared how financially and emotionally overwhelmed she is due to the fact that she already has twin children and she has exhausted her savings after taking unpaid leave, two months into her pregnancy earlier in the year due to her inability to cope with the side effects.
“I was sick. I left my job early and decided to stay at home because I couldn’t cope. I realised I was battling and decided to quit earlier than expected because my body couldn’t take it anymore. I decided to stay at home until I started feeling better,” Sithole said.
Gosiame has shared that she has no plans of returning to work because her salary would not cover the food costs and the extra help that she would have to employ to take care of her children. Gosiame has shared the baby necessity’s that she is in need of which included clothes, baby formula, diapers and more.
“I appeal to the public to help me in whatever way they can. Anybody who has anything I would appreciate it. I am relying on my mother-in-law now. She is old, lives on her old age pension and has grandchildren. I will also need people who can volunteer to help me raise the children – helpers” Sithole said.
The family has appealed to South Africa for help to raise the decuplets, saying she can’t afford the financial and emotional demands. Twitter being the vocal environment it is, has pledged to do a national baby shower for the couple, to help them with their need.
