Dr John Kani Reacts To The Surprise Of Having A Street Named After Him By The Ekurhuleni District. John Kani is a veteran and a legend when it comes to the acting and theatre space and his impressive career spans for over 30 years in Bothe small screen and stage acting.
Kani is an icon to say the least and it’s no surprise that streets are named after him because of his positive influence in the Arts and Culture forefront. Taking to twitter, the Black Panther actor was in the Alberton area with his son were he was delivering a gift when he noticed that there is a street named after him. He further thanked the Ekurhuleni government for giving him the honour.
“My son, who is an artist and I went to deliver a painting to a client who lives in Eden Park Alberton, and what a pleasant surprise. A street in my name. Thank you to the Ekurhuleni government for the honour. Also honoured was Sipho Sepamla and Achmat Dangor” he wrote.
Dr Kani was one of the many local actors who were involved in the Marvel Movie Black panther, where he played the role of T Chaka. Kani has won many international award throughout his career including a Golden Horn award, a Tony Award , a SAFTA and many more.
The actors fans and followers filled his TL with congratulatory messages, claiming that this is not the only street named after him as there are many all over the nation. Having recently received his honorary doctorate from the Stellenbosch University, Dr Kani has made the nation proud and has made a mark in the world of thespians and theatre for generations to come.
