Lalla Hiriyama Apologizes For Racist TikTok Video! Since the national lockdown began, people have been killing their boredom on social media and posting funny video’s but unfortunately for Lalla Hirayama her attempt to do the same was not funny to say the least.

Local TV personality Lalla Hirayama faced backlash on Tuesday for posting a TikTok parody video of a coloured woman singing “2 Legit 2 Quit”. In the now-deleted post, Hirayama is using a video of a coloured woman singing an adapted version of “2 Legit 2 Quit” by MC Hammer while jumping between a two-way conversation with herself and pulling faces in an attempt to make the video funny.

After receiving a lot of backlash from social media, Hirayama tried to justify why she thinks her video is okay comparing the video to people making fun of Asian people. However, other tweeps disagreed with her saying that the attempt to be funny was just an epic fail. Hirayama has since apologized for distasteful attempt at being funny.

“I made a TikTok video on Tuesday which was offensive to some of my fellow South Africans. Also, I published it during a time when we each face new and unfamiliar pressures. Moreover, I was not sensitive to the climate in SA as we prepare to enter the 4th week of isolation together. I will be more aware of our collective context,” Lalla said in the apology statement.
