Muvhango Cast Go On Strike After 2 Months Of No Pay! It seems no drama soapie is safe at SABC from Generations; The Legacy to Isidingo and now Muvhango.
According to several reports, Muvhango cast have gone on strike after not getting a salary for the months of October and November. They have reportedly threatened to leave the soapie and sue the production company.
“Last month when we enquired we were told that the SABC did not have money to pay them; that is why they couldn’t pay salaries. When we asked why the company didn’t apply for an overdraft to pay salaries, we were told that we would be paid double on Friday, November 29,” an inside source told Sunday World.
An actor on Muvhango who’s identity is not disclosed confirmed that they were not working. “I’m in bed as we speak. Maybe this will be a good chance for us to take on other work while we wait because they were strict about us acting in other soapies,” she said.
Muvhango publicist Karabo Disethle Mtshayelo said that the financially embattled public broadcaster is to blame for the shutdown and not the soapie.
