Moozlie Gets Her First Plaque After More Than a Decade in the Industry

South African radio and TV host and rapper Nomuzi Mabena, who is better known as Moozlie, has officially received her first plaque, but not quite the one she expected.

Moozlie was recently honoured with a special recognition plaque by Industry Nite SA, celebrating more than a decade of impact across South African television, fashion, and music.

The recognition came as part of Industry Nite SA’s ‘From Muse to Mogul’ Women’s Month theme, which pays tribute to Mabena’s consistency, character and contribution to the entertainment industry.

While plaques are often associated with major streaming milestones, chart-topping records and millions of views, Moozlie’s first one came with a much more personal meaning. Taking to social media to reflect on the moment, the media personality accepted the tribute with her signature humour while also sharing a heartfelt reflection on her journey.

And it wasn’t for millions of streams or views, but for hard work & dedication. Isn’t that so cute?
Well I’m not sure if we can really call it a plaque if it isn’t RISA approved but it definitely gave me a heart warming chuckle during prayer this week. A little reminder that God is more concerned with my heart & my character than any amount of success I could ever amass. Don’t get me wrong, still swinging for that plaque but knowing that the work has touched people enough for it to be acknowledged in this way is pretty dope. Thank you to @industrynite_sa for this special recognition & to everyone who came to listen, learn & love. You are appreciated.”

Moozlie officially started her professional mainstream entertainment career on October 20, 2012, when she won the MTV Base VJ Search. Since then, she has built a reputation across multiple areas of the entertainment industry, establishing herself as a rapper, television personality, radio host and fashion figure.

Over the years, her work has also earned her several awards and recognitions. At the SA Hip Hop Awards in 2018, she won Best Female Rap Act (or Best Female in Rap). In 2025, she took home Best Styled Artist of the Year at the Basadi in Music Awards, while in 2022, she was named Best Dressed Woman at the GQ Best Dressed Awards.

And Moozlie’s journey shows no signs of slowing down.

The media personality recently announced that she has been nominated for Best Female Rap Act at the AFRIMMA Music Fest, making her the only South African female artist nominated in the category.

The awards will take place at Annette Strauss Square at the AT&T Performing Arts Center in Dallas, Texas, on Saturday, 12 September 2026.

For now, Moozlie may still be “swinging for that plaque” for millions of streams and views, but her latest recognition proves that sometimes the most meaningful achievements are the ones that celebrate the work behind the success.
