Zimbabwean singer and songwriter Berita is turning to the music community as she reaches the final stretch of her Master’s research.

Known for her soulful Afro-soul and acoustic music, the talented musician is currently researching music rights, royalties, and administrative workflows in the South African music industry. As she works towards completing the research, Berita is looking for artists and other music industry professionals who can share their experiences and insights.

The singer took to social media to make a direct appeal to creatives who may be willing to participate in her research.

“To my music community
Looking for artists, songwriters, composers, producers, record label owners who can take part in my Masters Research.
Will need at least an hour of your time virtually between today and Sunday.
DM me directly if you are keen to take part and I will share more details.”

Berita later shared another update, revealing that she is now very close to completing the research and needs only a few more participants.

“Hey fam
I’m currently down to the final stretch of my Master’s research on music rights, royalties, and administrative workflows in the South African music industry. I need just 4 more creatives to hit my interview quota this weekend!”

The singer is specifically looking for artists, songwriters, composers, producers, and independent label owners who are willing to take part in a virtual interview.

“If you are an artist, songwriter, composer, producer, or independent label owner, I’d deeply appreciate an hour of your time for a virtual interview (today through Sunday).”

Berita also highlighted why the participation of music industry professionals matters to the research, particularly when it comes to understanding the realities faced by creatives.

“Your voice and lived experiences are crucial to shaping this work and bringing real solutions to our industry.”

With just four more creatives needed to meet her interview quota, Berita’s call comes at an important stage of her academic journey. Her research focuses on issues that continue to affect the music industry, including how music rights and royalties are handled and the administrative processes surrounding them.

For those who meet the requirements and are interested in contributing, Berita has encouraged them to contact her directly via social media for more details.
