DJ Zinhle Sets the Record Straight on Her Friendship with Pearl Thusi

South African DJ, businesswoman and media personality DJ Zinhle has addressed long-standing speculation surrounding her friendship with actress and television star Pearl Thusi. Speaking candidly during an interview with L-Tido on the L-Tido Podcast, the award-winning star made it clear that despite what social media may think, their bond remains as strong as ever.

For years, fans have questioned whether the two celebrities had drifted apart after noticing that they are no longer seen together as often. The rumours have continued to circulate online, with many assuming their once-close friendship had come to an end. However, DJ Zinhle dismissed those assumptions and reassured listeners that nothing could be further from the truth.

“We are definitely friends. I think we are sisters more than friends. Pearl is my forever girl.”

Explaining why their public appearances together have become less frequent, DJ Zinhle pointed to the natural changes that come with adulthood, family life and living in different areas.

“I think in terms of proximity and physical distance and different parts that we’ve taken in our lives. I’m married. I have kids. She has a kid.”

She reflected on a different chapter in their lives when they shared a home together for almost three years, noting that their circumstances have naturally evolved since then.

“We have different lives versus to how when we lived in one house. The relationship is going to be different.”

Looking back on those memorable years, DJ Zinhle laughed as she remembered the fun they had while living under the same roof.

“Oh, we were bad. I think I lived at Pearl’s for 2 to 3 years. When we lived together you would see a lot of us together. So when I moved to my house which is so far from her we were not seeing each other as much as we used to because of distance and I also it married and a lot happened. But we used to party a lot. We were partying and drinking. We were partying with everyone.”

She also took responsibility for the changes people may have noticed in her lifestyle over the years, explaining that her priorities have shifted as her life has changed.

“If you guys were to blame anyone between the change in the relationship between either Pearl or me, mostly blame me. I have changed so many things about my life over the years obviously because we had to deal with the lose. But also I love being home with my husband and my kids.”

During the conversation, DJ Zinhle also spoke about another close friendship, this time with radio and television presenter Moozlie, who previously worked as the creative director for ERA by DJ Zinhle. She explained that although they remain close, work commitments have changed how often they are able to spend time together.

“Moozlie worked with us for so many years and she recently left because she joined Metro FM. We were in the office everyday so we could see each other every time but now we’re doing so much at different times. We try to each other as much as we can, but like dynamics change. I think it’s the same thing with Pearl and I.”
