Omega Circle Uses Music to Start Conversations Around Mental Health, Grief and Faith in New ‘Ungasabi’ Video

Music has long been a source of comfort during difficult times, but South African gospel collective Omega Circlebelieves it can also help people feel seen. With today’s release of the official music video for Ungasabi, the group is placing some of society’s most difficult conversations at the centre of its latest project. Instead of presenting a polished image of perfect lives, the music video explores the emotional weight carried by people navigating unemployment, depression, grief, sickness, financial hardship and loneliness. The first three minutes are intentionally raw.

Each character represents someone who may be silently fighting battles that are often hidden from the outside world. Some have lost their jobs. Others mourn loved ones. Families struggle to put food on the table while individuals wrestle with emotional pain and uncertainty about the future. Against these powerful visuals, the lyrics continue to speak words of reassurance:

“Ungasabi. Ungalahli ithemba. Don’t be afraid. He is the Redeemer. He will never forsake you.”

Rather than suggesting that faith removes hardship, the song presents faith as something that helps people endure it. As the music video progresses, the narrative begins to shift.

People seek counselling and therapy. Prayer becomes a symbol of renewed hope. Families reunite after seasons of separation. Graduates celebrate academic achievements. Couples rediscover love. Young families welcome children, while others fulfil dreams of buying homes and building new futures.

The transition from pain to restoration forms the emotional heart of the production.

According to Omega Circle, the project was designed to encourage viewers to respond to others with greater empathy.

Beyond the music video itself, the collective has announced a five-part digital campaign that will explore individual themes from the production throughout the week.

Every episode will reinforce the central message:

“Be kind. Everyone is fighting a silent battle.”

The initiative aims to remind audiences that compassion can make a meaningful difference, especially when people may not realise what others are experiencing behind closed doors.

The release also continues the momentum generated by Ngembathe, Omega Circle’s previous single, which has inspired more than 3,000 social media videos from listeners sharing moments of worship, gratitude and everyday life.

Both songs feature on the collective’s latest EP, Spirit Lift Me, a project built around themes of healing, redemption and unwavering faith.

As conversations around mental health continue to grow across South Africa, Omega Circle hopes Ungasabi will do more than entertain. The group hopes it will encourage people to reach out to one another, extend kindness without judgment and remember that even the most difficult seasons do not define the rest of a person’s story.
