Kwesta and Yolanda Vilakazi Share Secrets to 15 Years of Love and Family Life

South African rapper Senzo Mfundo Vilakazi, known professionally as Kwesta, and his wife Yolanda Vilakazi are gracing the cover of Clicks magazine for the February 2026 Love Issue. The couple, who have been together for 15 years, are celebrating their journey as partners and parents to two daughters, 13-year-old Khai and 5-year-old Kenya.

Their love story began on set, during the shooting of a music video for one of Kwesta’s hit singles. Yolanda was cast as his love interest, and while both were focused on their work, their onscreen chemistry soon turned into real-life romance.

After more than a decade together, the couple shared the secret to keeping their relationship strong and happy. Yolanda says it’s about “choosing each other daily.” Kwesta adds, “Being conscious of that also affects how you fight. It’s not to say we don’t fight, but when we do it’s from a place of having chosen each other and continuing to.” The pair agree that having children has only strengthened their bond, and Kwesta’s faith has added further depth to their family life.

The Vilakazis also spoke about how they share family and home duties. Yolanda loves cooking traditional isiZulu dishes, with samp being her favourite, while Kwesta usually takes the girls to school in the morning. “Her face lights up when I compliment her culinary skills,” Kwesta says, though he jokingly adds that “I make a mean steak.” Yolanda laughs, reminding him, “Because I taught you how to!”

When work and school schedules allow, the family enjoys simple, cozy moments at home. Watching movies together is a favourite pastime, with Kenya usually picking the films, though Disney movies always win approval. “It can be overwhelming,” Kwesta admits, referring to life as a celebrity dad. The family also enjoys travelling—their most recent trip was to Dubai—and attending church together remains a priority.

The Vilakazis also reflected on their daughters’ personalities. Yolanda shares, “Kenya recently turned five, she rules the roost. She’s feisty, whereas her sister is very ladylike and gentle.” Despite their differences, the girls work well together in the family business, Sweet Tooth Kids, an online boutique. “They take their CEO roles very seriously. They have lots of ideas and they’re part of all the decisions,” Yolanda adds.
