Reality TV star and content creator Jojo Robinson is celebrating a major personal milestone. The Real Housewives of Durban star recently marked one year since undergoing a major cosmetic transformation, which she proudly refers to as her “new face”.
Jojo took to Instagram to reflect on the journey and the decision that changed how she feels about herself. She shared, “1 Year ago today, I dissolved all my fillers in my face, and went for a Full Deep Plane, Neck and Facelift.”
She wrote, “1 Year anniversary of my New Face.. Exactly 1 year ago today I did my Deep Plane Neck and Facelift with @drpaulmcgarr. l was the youngest person (from my knowledge in this country to do it) just 36 years old at the time, but honestly age has little to do with the why..” Jojo explained that the decision was not about trying to look younger, but about feeling unhappy and being in a position to change that feeling.
Jojo admitted that many people advised her against the surgery, but she trusted herself. “I was unhappy and I was in a position to change it. Thank goodness I never listened to everyone who told me l shouldn’t do it… Its honestly been one of the BEST decisions ive ever made for myself,” she said. She also shared that dissolving her fillers was one of the hardest parts of the journey, both physically and emotionally.
She continued, “Why should I have waited untill I was ‘old enough’ every face is different and if your able to (with a surgeon who is highly skilled) then 10000% go for it.” However, Jojo strongly warned against choosing the wrong doctor. “The only time I would say wait, is if you cant afford a really great surgeon like @drpaulmcgarr . This is a surgery that could easily go wrong if you just go to anyone so pick wisely.”
In October 2025, Jojo previously explained why she chose to get a facelift at what many consider a young age. When people questioned her decision, she responded confidently: “I was made to believe on socials that having a face lift at 37 was slightly crazy and although it probably is, my reply is why not? There is no definitive age for anyone for anything.”
She revealed that being on television played a big role in her decision. Constantly seeing herself on screen made her more aware of her appearance. “Why should I have waited for a more ‘appropriate’ age to do the surgery when I want to look my best NOW?” she asked.
Jojo also kept things real about recovery, calling it “mentally hard” and “extremely uncomfortable.” She explained, “The recovery is extremely long and it seems to get worse before it gets better.” While the pain was manageable, the discomfort was not. “Pain level — minimal. Discomfort — lots of discomfort, the compression is horrible.”
Finally, Jojo shared the financial reality of the procedure. “Between R130k to R200k, depending on the case, surgeon, and hospital. Recovery — 3 weeks with compression, 3 months to looking normal, and the best results at 1 year.”
One year later, Jojo says she has no regrets and proudly added, “Can’t believe ive had this perfect jawline for 1 year now.”
