Liesl Laurie-Mthombeni Reveals the Meaning Behind Her African Violet Home Fragrance

Media personality Lisel Laurie-Mthombeni has stepped into the world of fragrance creation, revealing that she has spent the past nine months working with Glade South Africa to design her very own signature home scent. The former Miss South Africa shared the exciting news in a video, proudly showing off her new fragrance named African Violet.

In the clip, Lisel opened up about the long and meaningful journey behind the scent. “So, you witnessed the end result of the African Violet scent a little while ago but what you may not know is that we worked on this fragrance since February. I’ve been keeping this secret for 9 whole months. Getting to formulate and design my own signature scent with the Glade South Africa team was truly a highlight for 2025. This is a special and very intentional partnership taking inspiration from my work, my life and my family. The essence of my scent African Violent is calming, graceful and elegant. A true tribute to Africa’s quiet strength and nurturing spirit.”

Lisel explained that the fragrance was created with deep care and meaning, inspired by the important things in her life. She described the scent as one that carries elegance and calmness, while representing the beauty and power found across the African continent.

Under her post, she expressed even more excitement and gratitude about the project. “9 months of hard work = 1 amazing signature home scent. African Violet is one of the most special projects I have ever worked on. Thank you to @glade_sa for believing in me. Lisel also revealed the key ingredient that gives her scent its unique warmth and richness. “My scent is enriched with the sweet, honeyed, and syrupy gourmand notes of ripe figs — a fruit deeply rooted in African soil and culture. Figs have long been associated with nourishment and abundance, and their inclusion adds a warm, comforting richness to the scent. A true elegant masterpiece even if I must say so myself.”
