Uncle Waffles, whose real name is Lungelihle Zwane, continues to prove why she is one of the most loved figures in the amapiano scene. The Swazi-born DJ and record producer, now based in South Africa, has been making waves around the world with her electrifying sets, her iconic dance moves, and her unique sound. With Billboard famously calling her the “princess of amapiano”, it is clear that her influence goes far beyond the music.

In a recent street-style interview with Isaac Hindin-Miller, Uncle Waffles gave fans a rare peek into her personal life and some of her favourite places around Johannesburg. When asked about her dream neighbourhood, she didn’t hesitate to share: “Constantia Kloof. I want to build in Constantia hopefully one day I’m going to have a home in Constantia. It just gives safe. It gives home.”

The DJ also revealed her go-to restaurants, proving that she enjoys both flavor and vibes. “The 11th Floor you’re getting like, a twist on some South African classics. Like a good beef curry and Samp, you always get something elevated there. Ukko, drinks. Everybody goes for the drink. The drinks are blue, they we got glitter, all the girls go there to cheers with their friends.” She also mentioned Club Como as another y spot when she’s looking for a good meal.

When it comes to nightlife, Uncle Waffles keeps it authentic. Her favourite venue to perform at is none other than Cosmopolitan in Maboneng. “It’s a venue that a lot of young kids can afford, so I love playing there. You get good interactions with the kids,” she explained. For her own dance nights, she enjoys hitting up Louis, where she feels completely at home. “I know the manager so I get a nice corner there, and I’ll be breaking it down. Nobody can take a video of me.”

Fashion is another part of her vibrant personality, and she revealed that her favourite clothing store is Thebe Magugu. When it comes to music, she has nothing but love for fellow DJs and performers like Royal MusiQ, Kamo Mphela, DBN Gogo, and TxC.

But beyond lifestyle and entertainment, Uncle Waffles recently shared an empowering message with her followers on Instagram, directed especially at young women. “My girlies, especially the younger girlies Go to school!!, start businesses, chase your own success! Say no to anti intellectualism be it affects women first!!! Learn! Read about feminism (don’t ever think you’re above learning about feminism bc this platform wouldn’t be accessible without it. Don’t get caught up in trying to belittle it to just hating men!! it’s not cool to be a loser © it’s not cool to be unaware of our current political climate. It’s not cool to be oblivious. It’s so lame. Read research papers, history books.”
