Popular socialite and influencer Cindy Makhathini has finally explained the cause of the car accident she was recently involved in. She confirmed the incident on her Instagram account on Sunday and shared more details about what happened in a TikTok video.

In the video, Cindy described the accident as a “freak accident.” She explained that it all happened at a Sasol fuel station when her friend asked her for help zipping up her dress. “While we were driving into the garage, she’s like, ‘Chommie, can you please zip me up?’ And I’m like, ‘Sharp Chommie, let’s just park, and then I’ll zip you up,’” Cindy said.

Cindy explained that she had her foot on the brake pedal but forgot to shift her car, an Omoda, into park. While helping her friend, her foot accidentally slipped from the brake to the accelerator, causing the car to surge forward and crash.

“I did not put my car in park. I had my foot on the brake, I had it there, and I was so sure. Usually, I know myself, like when I park before I put the P, I put my full brake, and then I press the P. I swear to God, I don’t know what happened. So, I’m trying to zip her up. I don’t know how my foot moved from the brake to the accelerator,” Cindy explained.

She also shared how worried she was for others rather than herself. “Bare in mind I’m still thinking that my foot is on the brake. I’m thinking I lifted my foot a little on the brake, that’s why the car moved. The moment I thought I’m pressing the brake but I actually pressed down on the accelerator, the car crashed. I was not worried about myself. I was worried about the people in the car and I was worried about the people in the garage. I’m thinking, what if I hurt someone?”

Cindy apologised to everyone who was in the garage and the owner of the Sasol garage. She also thanked all the people who reached out to check on her safety, showing her gratitude for the support she received.
