After a life-changing car accident that nearly took her life, fitness influencer and media personality Sbahle Mpisane is finally sharing her journey of pain, healing, and rediscovering herself. She opened up about her struggles in an emotional episode of Engineer Your Life with Lungelo KM, leaving fans moved by her honesty and vulnerability.

One of the biggest revelations was about her past public romance with soccer star Itumeleng Khune. Their high-profile relationship ended after her accident, and she explained how they both handled the breakup.

“When Khuene and I officially parted ways we had to make it obvious so he can move on and so I can move on. We were like okay let’s just make it obvious, but how I said it so we don’t have to explain to people I said, ‘I have amnesia. I don’t remember him.’ But while I was in hospital, I was in communication with Khuene and he was always a supportive person and he’s not a person I’ll say I hate. If I had to see him I’ll say hi, you know, with him and his wife. He’s got a beautiful wife. You just never know what to say publicly,” she shared.

Speaking with teary eyes, she revealed that the breakup was a mutual and respectful decision. “I just felt that let me be fair and Khuene and I spoke and I told him that I’m not in the state to say I love you and be a girlfriend. I couldn’t. We parted ways. We discussed it and we did it amicably. I’m happy it ended well.”

Sbahle also touched on deeply personal family wounds, particularly the pain of being abandoned by her biological mother. “My mom abandoned me when I was three. My mom Shauwn had to be a mother. It’s weird to say that what if I had a child with someone and usually guys walk away. I feel like I will be the one who walks away… why would she leave me? She come back years later. Trauma contributes, so I don’t want to find myself in that situation where either you walk away and you leave me with your child or I walk away and I leave you with my child.”

On Instagram, she further opened up about her long-standing battle with pain, revealing that her unhappiness started long before her accident. “My unhappiness didn’t start in 2018. It started in childhood – abandoned, abused, unheard. I wore the perfect mask yet inside I was broken and begging for love #engineeryourlife. So when you see me crying in this video about my survival, it’s because surviving meant staying in a life that already felt and still feels unbearable. Another mountain to climb with a cold, tired heart.”

She added, “Hard to see but I’ve always been alone & in search. I’ve lived beautifully to mask my pain. And I know I’m not the only one. Families are broken. People are broken. If you feel unseen, you are not alone. Inshallah, let’s soldier on & fight every battle as it comes.”
