Popular influencer Cindy Makhathini was the talk of social media this past weekend after being involved in a frightening car accident. The star confirmed the news on her Instagram stories on Sunday, leaving fans shocked and worried about her wellbeing.
Celebrity blog Maphepha Ndaba also added fuel to the online buzz by sharing screenshots of the accident on its Instagram account.
In her own words, Makhathini expressed relief that no one was injured. She explained how her car crashed into a Sasol garage, causing visible damage to the property.
“I just crashed my car. Not just crashed but crashed into a Sasol garage. Lucky enough no one was hurt, also my car was just scratched, but the damage I did to the garage is too much. I am so lucky the owner was so kind and gentle with the situation. But mahn, when does it end? There is always something happening in my life. FYI, I WAS NOT DRUNK. We were driving with a baby in the car and it was a long distance!!!” she shared.
Cindy added that while her car is still moving, her main concern is the damage caused to the garage. She reassured her followers that she cooperated fully with the police and the garage owner, who handled the situation with understanding.
“The police did a breathalyzer test, and there was no alcohol in my blood. It was just an honest mistake,” she explained. “No one was hurt, we are just still in shock!!! Hey God, please take over!!! I’m tired!!!”
The influencer also promised to explain more once she had calmed down, thanking fans and friends who sent her messages of support during the ordeal.
Just days before the accident, Cindy was already making headlines for her online feud with author Jackie Phamotse. Phamotse accused Cindy of allegedly sliding into her husband’s DMs after a fake account posted photos of the influencer on X (formerly Twitter). In response, Cindy dismissed the claims in a video shared on 25 September, saying she doesn’t know Jackie or her husband.

“I do not know this woman. I have never seen her anywhere, and I know nothing about her. So how would I know who her husband is?” Cindy laughed.
From heated online drama to a terrifying car crash, it’s clear Cindy Makhathini has had a whirlwind week.
