In its statement, e.tv explained, “The SAFTA award-winning soap opera Scandal! will conclude its broadcast on e.tv in June 2026, marking the conclusion of more than twenty years of continuous production and viewership. The ever-changing television landscape requires broadcasters to consistently review all programming and scheduling, and we believe that Scandal! has reached the end of its life cycle.”

Since its debut, the show quickly became a household name. Its bold approach to tackling real-life issues, mixed with scandalous drama, set a new standard for local television. For more than two decades, the soapie not only entertained but also reflected South African society, shining a light on themes such as family, betrayal, ambition, and survival.

e.tv also used the announcement to thank the people who made the show a success. The channel extended heartfelt gratitude to Ochre Moving Pictures, the production house behind Scandal!, and acknowledged the dedication of the cast, crew, writers, directors, producers, and technicians. Their creativity and passion ensured the show remained one of the most successful long-running dramas in the country.

Stan Joseph, Executive Producer at Ochre Moving Pictures, shared his emotions about the show’s ending: “Producing Scandal! has been an incredible journey and a true labour of love. Over twenty years, our writers, directors, actors, and crew have poured their hearts into bringing authentic South African stories to life. We are deeply grateful to e.tv for their trust and to our audiences for their unwavering support. While it is bittersweet to say goodbye, we are proud of the legacy Scandal! leaves behind.”

Though the end is in sight, fans will still enjoy the soapie until June 2026, giving the show time to build towards an unforgettable finale. e.tv assured viewers that the last months of the show will deliver drama worth remembering. The channel also thanked loyal fans who have supported the show from the very beginning, saying their love helped Scandal! become one of the country’s most iconic soap operas.
