The Miss South Africa Organisation has quickly responded to online allegations of bullying against one of its Top 10 finalists, Bridgett Jones. The organisation strongly dismissed the claims, confirming that they are false.
The issue started when Kayla Jenecker, a content creator and former colleague, accused Jones on TikTok of bullying her in the workplace. Jenecker said the alleged behaviour created a toxic environment and negatively affected her mental health.
Jones immediately rejected the claims, taking to Instagram to clear her name. “I am aware of a video circulating on social media in which I have been accused of bullying. These allegations are completely untrue,” she said.
On Thursday, the Miss South Africa Organisation released a detailed statement addressing the matter. They explained that they had taken the allegations seriously and reached out to Jones’ former employer, the South African Medical and Education Foundation (SAME Foundation), to investigate.
The organisation’s statement read:
“The Miss South Africa Organisation is aware of recent online allegations made against one of the Top 10 finalists. We take such matters seriously and have engaged directly with her former employer, the South African Medical and Education Foundation (SAME Foundation), to ensure that the allegations are addressed with the appropriate context.”
The SAME Foundation officially confirmed that the claims were false. Its Chief Executive Officer stated that there was no bullying or harassment during Jones’ time with the foundation. Instead, she was described as professional, respectful, and exemplary in her behaviour.
The Miss SA Organisation further stressed its commitment to maintaining a safe and empowering environment for all.
“The Miss South Africa Organisation does not condone bullying or harassment in any form. We remain steadfast in our expectation that all contestants uphold the values of integrity, respect, and accountability, values that are central to the Miss South Africa Organisation. We stand firmly by these principles and continue to expect all contestants to embody the true spirit of empowerment and leadership that this platform represents.”
The swift response shows how seriously the organisation treats such allegations. By verifying facts with the SAME Foundation and sharing the outcome publicly, they have defended both their reputation and that of Bridgett Jones.
