“Uzalo Will Always Be My First Home” – Nelisa Mchunu on Her Return as Fikile

Beloved actress Nelisa Mchunu is set to grace Uzalo screens once again, bringing back her much-loved role as the bold and stylish Fikile. After a four-year break from the hit SABC1 drama, Mchunu describes her comeback as a heartfelt reunion with her “first love.”

Reflecting on her journey, she shared:

“What to expect from my character’s return is the same ‘Beyoncé’ energy. Also a wild ride between the old Fikile and the new Sbu. My sentiments are that Uzalo will always be my first home. What I learnt being on Uzalo has stayed with me as I’ve grown and reached new heights in my career. I’ll be reconnecting with people I’ve known for years. And I’m excited to meet the new team members.”

Fans won’t have to wait long to see her back in action. Nelisa will make her grand return on Wednesday, 24 September 2025.

Fikile’s storyline picks up in KwaMashu, where she resurfaces after vanishing for years and leaving behind a heartbroken Sbu. This time, her beauty, charm, and complicated history with Sbu come rushing back, leaving him overwhelmed and unable to resist letting her back into his life. True to her character, Fikile hasn’t lost her sharp edge—she remains as bold, cunning, and captivating as ever.

The announcement of her return comes with more exciting news. Alongside Mchunu, Uzalo will also be introducing new characters: Mondli Nkomo as Mr. Dongwe and Jamy Lee Simons as Joanne. These fresh faces are set to bring new twists and energy to Mzansi’s most-watched TV show.
