Controversial content creator, YouTuber, and DJ Honour Zuma better known as Cyan Boujee, recently marked her 24th birthday with a lavish celebration, despite finding herself at the center of a growing social media storm.
Cyan Boujee turned 24 on Sunday, 24 August 2025, and made sure to celebrate the milestone in a manner as bold as her online persona. The influencer opted for a private celebration with close family and friends, treating them to a fancy dinner, a room full of flowers, and expensive gifts. She is currently celebrating her birthday outside of South Africa and took to social media to share glimpses of her celebration.
The highlight of her birthday content was a stunning photoshoot that had her followers raving. Cyan Boujee dazzled in a glamorous one-shoulder white mini dress, exquisitely detailed with shimmering silver beadwork along the edges. She paired the outfit with a sheer, floor-length overlay adorned with sparkling crystals. Her platinum-blonde hair was styled sleek and straight, and a bold golden hairpiece resting across her forehead added to her goddess-like appearance. The backdrop was as beautiful, she was surrounded by cascading pink and white roses, creating a fairytale aesthetic.
In an emotional message to herself, she wrote: “I celebrate survival. I celebrate growth. I celebrate resilience that refused to shatter, even when the world tried to break me.
There were days I didn’t think I’d make it this far. Nights when pain felt louder than hope. Moments when the weight of what I carried almost crushed me. And now here I am — a little softer, a little stronger, and a lot wiser.
This new year of life is mine. Not for anyone else to define, limit, or dim. I’m walking forward with my scars, my truth, and my power. Not because life has been easy — but because I chose not to let it defeat me.
Happy birthday to me — not just for turning a year older, but for becoming everything I was meant to be, despite everything that tried to stop me.”
While her birthday tributes sparked admiration, Cyan Boujee has also been trending for a more controversial reason. A video clip circulated over the weekend showing her endorsing a suspicious overseas program known as the Alabuga Start Programme, allegedly aimed at recruiting unemployed South African women aged 18 to 22 to move to Russia.
In the video, Cyan Boujee described the program as a two-year opportunity offering professional training, high-paying jobs, language lessons (including Russian), and free accommodation in a pyramid-shaped building housing thousands of international women. The clip was later deleted from Instagram, but not before sparking outrage.
Critics accused her of misleading young women with promises of a glamorous lifestyle, while others pointed to leaked images of “prison-like” living conditions allegedly associated with the Alabuga facility. The backlash intensified with concerns over vague job descriptions and the legitimacy of the program itself.
In response, the South African Justice, Crime Prevention and Security (JCPS) Cluster confirmed that the Alabuga Start Programme is now under official investigation. The government is probing the video and the nature of the organization behind the recruitment drive.
Cyan Boujee is not the only influencer under scrutiny. Others, including Seemah, Mangolwane, Aya Langa, and Siyamthanda Anita, have also been criticized for promoting the same Russian-based initiative.
