Miss South Africa 2024, Mia le Roux, continues to inspire South Africans with her powerful story, her love for inclusivity, and now her heartwarming personal life. Mia, who made history last year as the first hearing-impaired woman to win Miss South Africa, used her platform recently to celebrate her fiancé, Luke Tenoever, in the sweetest way.
On her Instagram stories, Mia poured out her love, writing: “@luke_tenoever Happy birthday to the best fiancé I could ever ask for. To me you are the most gorgeous man outside and inside. Thank you for your heart!” Alongside her heartfelt words, she shared adorable pictures of Luke and snaps of the two of them together, capturing their beautiful bond.
The couple celebrated his birthday with a special dinner. “Luke’s birthday dinner, he asked for a healthy dinner. Ask and you shall receive,” Mia explained. She added that they have both decided to prioritise health and fitness together.
Mia also opened up about a deeply emotional chapter in their relationship. “Luke almost died a few months after I was crowned. We didn’t know for an entire week if he would survive when he was in the hospital. Fortunately, he made it after a big surgery and I am grateful for every day that he is still with me. But his health did take a big knock.” She went on to share that Luke has now started playing cricket again and is back in the gym.
Reflecting on her own challenges, Mia admitted that balancing her duties as Miss South Africa with personal struggles has not been easy. “I struggle to find time to exercise and cook healthy meals with the demanding life of being a Miss SA while having to also process a lot of personal struggles. Because this is not the year that I live for me, but for others. But now it is time to be disciplined and put our health first.”
The couple, who got engaged in July 2025, have also recently shared the big news with their followers. In a heartfelt post, Mia wrote:
“Hello there FIANCE, cannot wait to become your wife @luke_tenoever. The immense love, patience and sacrifice you have shown me this year has been nothing short of incredible. From the way you hold space for me with calm and steadiness in life’s tough moments, to the way we lose ourselves in laughter over the silliest things… We said yes to forever.”
