South African actress Ntando Duma, who is now officially Ntando Rambani after marrying singer and songwriter Unarine “Una Rams” Rambani, has opened up about her private life like never before. Speaking on the L-Tido Podcast, the Shaka iLembe star revealed details about her intimate wedding, her new baby, painful childhood memories, and her growing business empire.

The couple tied the knot in June and recently welcomed their first child together — a baby girl. Ntando revealed how she met her husband, describing it as destiny. “We met at a show in Venda. We met in September on the 16th two years ago. He actually wasn’t booked. He was there with a friend. This is crazy, but this is proof that God’s timing is the right timing. At that gig I was supposed to go on stage at 9pm but it got delayed until 3am. At 3 o’clock I went on stage and found him there with a friend. He knew my sister from Twitter and came to greet my sister and mainly me. I loved his aura, loved his humility. I knew about him but I never seen him. The consistency was there, the respect was there.”

Ntando revealed that Una Rams showed his commitment early in their relationship by asking her family for her hand in marriage just six months after they started dating.

The actress also spoke about keeping her pregnancy private after learning from her past. With her first pregnancy, when she had her daughter Sbahle with DJ Junior De Rocka, things were more public. “The first one wasn’t as private. I found out when I was two weeks and then I announced at six months. I was young at the time, I didn’t understand the importance of keeping things to yourself. Pregnancy is such a sensitive topic and you really need to protect that. We wanted those moments to be for us.”

Addressing rumours that she had used surrogacy, she dismissed them strongly: “You see hey, we don’t throw our business in public because you always have something to say. Those things are not even factual. Just because you didn’t see me pregnant it’s not my child.”

Ntando also opened up about her painful childhood and her abusive father. “The last time I heard of my dad was when I was three years old. The memory I have of my dad was when he burnt us inside a shack while we were sleeping. He had a serious drinking problem, that’s the main reason I don’t drink alcohol. Technically, I didn’t have a father figure. I grew up with my grandmother mostly and then my mom.” Her father passed away in 2008. She revealed she is releasing a book soon, where she will share more about her experiences.

On the brighter side, Ntando is growing her entrepreneurial footprint. She owns a salon named after her daughter Sbahle and has exciting plans with her husband. “Entrepreneurship is in my blood. I’m opening something soon with my husband. We have a production company called NU Media — N for Ntando and U for Una. We are going to be producing films, stories, and the first one will be my talk show. Acting definitely, but I also want to direct. I’m discovering my passions, and most of them are behind the scenes.”
