Popular radio presenter and DJ, Sol Phenduka, has been suspended from Kaya 959 with immediate effect. The station confirmed the news on Wednesday, 20 August, announcing that Sol, whose real name is Solomzi Phenduka, will not be on air from Thursday, 21 August.

Kaya 959 released an official statement explaining the decision, but they did not reveal the reason behind his suspension. The station said the step was necessary while an internal process takes place.

Sol is best known for co-hosting Kaya 959’s breakfast show alongside Sizwe Dhlomo, Nosipho Radebe, and Mpho Maboi. Before this line-up, he hosted with Dineo Ranaka, who also left the station under controversial circumstances after being fired.

Sol Phenduka joined Kaya 959 in 2022 and has built a strong following with listeners for his humor, bold opinions, and unique radio presence. His sudden suspension has left many fans shocked, especially since no details about the reasons behind the move have been made public.
