Real Housewives of Durban Wins Big at KZN Film and TV Awards

The Real Housewives of Durban walked away with two big awards at the Simon Mabhunu Sabela KZN Film and TV Awards held on Saturday night at the Durban International Convention Centre.

The popular reality show won Best TV Production and Best Use of Cinematography. The cinematography award went to Lee Thomas Doig for his amazing work on Season 4 of the show. Even though Doig wasn’t at the event, the awards were received by the show’s director, Boitumelo Modise.

Modise gave a warm thank you to fans and said, “Thank you for loving the show so much, showing so much support… for watching it, every episode that comes out.”

The 12th edition of the awards celebrated the best in South African film and television. Another big winner of the night was the comedy film Disaster Holiday, created by the talented Ramphakela siblings – Rethabile, Katleho and Tshepo – known for their hit series How to Ruin Christmas. The film won Best Pan African Film, Best Feature Film, Best Production Design, and Best Use of KZN as a Filming Location.

Actress and presenter Hope Mbhele proudly hosted the awards alongside Nay Maps, who is known for his role in Uzalo and was excited to take on his new role as host.

Here are some of the other winners from the night:

  • Best Actor (TV): Kwenzokuhle Ngcobo – Scandal
  • Best Actress (TV): Nqobile Magwaza – Smoke and Mirrors
  • Best Supporting Actor (TV): Andile Zamokuhle Mtambo – Uzalo Season 10
  • Best Supporting Actress (TV): Duduzile Ngcobo – Uzalo
  • Best Actor (Film): Ntando Mncube – Themba
  • Best Actress (Film): Sibongiseni Shezi – Umjolo: The Gone Girl
  • Best Supporting Actor (Film): Mbuso Khoza – Masinga the Calling

The night was filled with celebration and pride for local talent in film and TV.
