The Miss South Africa Organisation has announced that this year’s pageant, which was meant to happen in August, has been postponed to a later date in 2025. The organisers said this decision was made to better align with international pageants and other global events.

In a public statement, the organisation explained:

“POSTPONEMENT OF THE MISS SOUTH AFRICA PAGEANT TO ALIGN WITH GLOBAL EVENTS. The Miss South Africa Organisation today announced the postponement of Miss South Africa from August to a later date in 2025, to ensure greater alignment with international and other global events.

The Organisation, through its affiliated companies, aims to broaden the reach and impact of the pageant and its contestants. The pillars of the Organisation will be expanded to include entrepreneurship, job creation, cultural awareness and social cohesion. Further announcements will be made soon.”

This isn’t the only major change in the organisation. Earlier this month, on 9 July, the Miss SA team confirmed that CEO Stephanie Weil will be stepping down after many years of leading the organisation.

“The organisers of Miss South Africa wish Stephanie Weil everything of the best with her new endeavours… an agreement has been reached that Ms Weil will be leaving the organisation after many years as CEO of Miss South Africa,” the statement said.

Weil will continue in her role until a new CEO is found. Her departure follows that of creative director Werner Wessels, who resigned earlier this year. Weil has led the Miss SA Organisation since 2019.

The pageant usually takes place in August, and entries for the 2025 competition opened on 2 April and closed on 11 April. However, fans have noticed delays, especially around the announcement of the top 30 contestants. This has raised concerns about the pageant’s future direction.

In addition, Miss South Africa has pulled out of two major international pageants. In May, the organisation announced that South Africa would not take part in Miss Supranational 2025, which was held in Poland this June. Before that, reigning Miss SA Mia le Roux exited the Miss Universe 2024 competition back in November. These back-to-back exits left fans both shocked and worried.

In a message shared on social media, the organisation thanked supporters and confirmed their decision not to take part in Miss Supranational, adding another layer to the changes within Miss SA.

With all these updates, fans are now waiting to see what the future holds for one of the country’s most beloved pageants.
