Well-known celebrity sangoma and media personality, Gogo Manzini, whose real name was Tyra Sindane, has sadly passed away. Her husband, Brian Sindane, confirmed her death in a heartfelt statement. Tyra died on June 5 after a short illness.
The statement from the family read: “It is with profound sadness that we confirm the passing of Tyra Sindane also known as Gogo Manzini, who died on 5 June. This comes after a short illness. Tyra was a cherished friend, colleague, family member, public figure and mom, whose presence touched the lives of so many.
Tyra will be remembered for her passion for healing others, unwavering kindness, dedication to her community, and the joy she brought to everyone around her. At this time, we ask for privacy and respect as her family and loved ones navigate this incredibly difficult moment. Further information, including memorial details, will be shared in due course. We extend our deepest condolences to all who knew and loved Tyra.”
According to IOL, Gogo Manzini was more than just a traditional healer. She was also a businesswoman, a public speaker, and a confident figure in both spiritual and modern spaces. Earlier this year, she made headlines after flying to Turkey to undergo a full-body transformation.
She had several plastic surgery procedures done, including a Brazilian butt lift (BBL), tummy tuck, liposuction, rhinoplasty (nose job), fox eyes, and breast augmentation. She was also open about her skin-lightening journey, which she started in 2024, as well as lip and face fillers she had done in the past.
Speaking about her decision to change her appearance, Gogo Manzini said: “I want to perfect what needs perfection and adjust my body to my liking.”
She explained that the changes were not just about looks but also about how she felt inside.
“All risks and side effects were carefully considered but as the saying goes, life is about taking risks. I am doing it for my self-esteem and confidence which I always had all my life.
Many men hide when they have had surgeries, and it’s time to normalise it among men and the LGBTQI community. There is no shame in seeking perfection, especially if you can afford it. Who says sangomas should not look good?”
