South African actress and businesswoman Amanda Du-Pont has shared a heartfelt tribute to the late jewellery icon Jenna Clifford, who passed away on 20 May 2025 after a brave battle with advanced-stage cancer. The news of Jenna’s passing has touched many across South Africa, especially in the entertainment and fashion industries, where her influence was deeply felt.
Jenna Clifford was not just a world-renowned jewellery designer, but also a mentor and mother figure to many. Her passing was announced by her family on 21 May 2025 through an emotional statement posted on social media.
The statement read, “It is with the heaviest of hearts that we share that our beloved mother, Jenna Clifford, has passed away. Earlier this year, mom was diagnosed with cancer at an advanced stage. She undertook treatment with unwavering courage, grace, dignity, strength and endless gratitude. Sadly, the severity of her illness meant she and we knew that her remaining time with us would be limited. On the evening of 20 May 2025, surrounded by her family and completely enveloped in our love, she passed away peacefully.”
The family also expressed deep gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and medical staff at Morningside Medi Clinic for their compassionate care, as well as to all those who offered support and kind words during Jenna’s final days.
Among those who shared their love and grief was Amanda Du-Pont. In an emotional Instagram story, Amanda described just how much Jenna meant to her, not only professionally but also personally.
“To the woman who guided me in business and self worth. Addressed me as Queen and prepared me to survive in business as a woman and even life without you. You pass as I order my bday ring! Thanks for being a mom away from home in boarding school until my adult life. Grateful to have told you your value and have you cook me Lobster as our last meal. Love you mama! OG gogz is now my spirit warrior xx so sorry to your daughters for their loss but you didn’t raise no whimps. RIP I’m gonna cry a while then be strong like we know how. I’m broken.”
