Tyla Joins Rihanna on Smurfs Movie Soundtrack

Tyla is making big moves again! The 23-year-old South African singer is featured on the upcoming Smurfs movie soundtrack, alongside global superstar Rihanna. The animated film hits cinemas on July 18, 2025, and fans are already excited about the music lineup.

Rihanna’s new song “Friend of Mine” drops on May 16 and will appear in the movie. It’s her first release since 2022’s “Lift Me Up” for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. The track has a fun Afrobeats-inspired sound and plays during the newly released trailer.

Tyla’s contribution to the Smurfs soundtrack proves that her star continues to rise. She joins other major artists like DJ Khaled, Cardi B, and DESI TRILL, whose song “Higher Love” is also featured.

The new Smurfs film follows a fun storyline where evil wizards Razamel and Gargamel kidnap Papa Smurf. The other Smurfs go on a mission into the real world to rescue him, and along the way, they discover their true purpose.

This exciting project comes just after Tyla wowed everyone at the 2025 Met Gala. She wore a custom Jacquemus gown inspired by fashion icon André Leon Talley. Her navy pinstripe dress featured a corseted bodice and a massive train that flowed dramatically down the steps.
