South African pop sensation Tyla is gearing up to release a brand-new single titled Bliss on Friday, May 9. The singer made the big announcement on Instagram with a striking promo photo, where she’s seen curled up in the fetal position, her skin glistening under layers of sand crystals. The visual brings back memories of her iconic sand-inspired Balmain gown from her debut appearance at the Met Gala last year.

Tyla also teased fans with a behind-the-scenes video clip from the making of the new song. While doing her hair and getting ready for the 2025 Met Gala, she opened up about Bliss in a conversation with Vogue.

“I’ve had Bliss for a while, so I’m excited that it’s coming out. The song makes me cry every time. I love it so much. And, yeah, I previewed it at Coachella. I wasn’t supposed to, but I did, and my Tigers love it, so I’m happy. I can’t wait for it to be theirs now. Coming out soon, soon, soon,” she shared.

Fans were thrilled when Tyla performed the emotional track live during the second weekend of Coachella. Sitting on the steps of the stage, she delivered a passionate performance filled with longing and love. In a fan-recorded clip, she sings,

“I don’t want to be nowhere without you/Baby, I don’t want to let you out my sight/I don’t want to, I don’t want to ever break away from you… Let my smile bring you peace of mind/Burning desire when you throw your arms all around me/I need to feel all your passion.”

Tyla has made it clear that this new chapter in her music will reflect her growth. In an earlier Billboard Women in Music interview, the Water hitmaker revealed she’s also working on a full album.

“I’ve changed a lot in a short amount of time because I was kind of forced to with how fast I had to adapt to everything,” she said. “I don’t think it’s going to be the same energy [as Tyla] at all, especially with what I’ve started making. It’s different, but also still Tyla.”

With Bliss set to drop this Friday, fans are eagerly waiting to hear the next evolution of Tyla’s sound.
