Actress and philanthropist Nomzamo Mbatha is gearing up for an exciting moment in the fashion world as she prepares to walk the runway in Milan for South African fashion house Khosi Nkosi. Speaking to IOL, the award-winning actress, executive producer, and humanitarian shared her excitement about being part of this prestigious international event.
Mbatha will be strutting her stuff for Khosi Nkosi, whose partnership with African Bank is taking its collections to Milan and Paris Fashion Week this March. “I’m very honoured that I will be joining them in Milan and walking the runway and I’m very excited about that,” Mbatha shared.
For Mbatha, this moment is deeply meaningful. “For me, it’s important that if you say you are going to back people you take them from where they start to the place they never imagined, and that is the power of true investment,” she said during the showcase of the collections at African Bank headquarters.
Reflecting on her career, Mbatha shared how she intentionally crafted her image during her breakout year, embracing her African roots. “I was the girl who was teased for always being in African print, but sure enough, those African weddings were packed with people flocking to YDE and Khosi Nkosi,” she recalled. “It’s a beautiful full-circle moment, what started on African soil gets to be taken to the international ground.”
Khosi Nkosi will debut two new collections during Milan and Paris Fashion Week. The Legacy and Frontline collections feature bold Ankara prints, West African-inspired knitwear, and versatile styles for both men and women, blending African flair with modern banking attire. The fashion house is known for its elegant African-inspired designs, which were recently showcased in African Bank’s revamped uniform collection.
On March 1, Khosi Nkosi will unveil the Legacy Collection at Milan Fashion Week in the iconic Villa Erba in Lake Como, followed by the Frontline Collection presentation at the Shangri-La Hotel in Paris on March 9.
Nomzamo Mbatha, also the UN Global Goodwill Ambassador and founder of the Nomzamo Lighthouse Foundation, was named African Bank’s brand ambassador last year. Now, she’s set to take the global stage, representing the fusion of African style and international fashion.
