Media personality Moshe Ndiki’s culinary journey continues to grow, moving from launching his own spices to hosting cooking shows, and now even stepping into the world of restaurants. This February, Ndiki teamed up with the popular Johannesburg eatery, Tempo Luxury, to bring a fresh twist to their menu with Temptation Thursday.
Tempo Luxury’s Temptation Thursday is a sophisticated evening, offering a date night vibe for both ladies and gentlemen. Ndiki, known for his passion for food, told IOL Lifestyle that collaborating with the restaurant was a natural decision. “It’s been quite some time since I’ve been in the kitchen and collaborating with Chef Bonga was a dream come true. Very passionate, professional, and welcoming in the kitchen because we all know how chefs are in their spaces,” he shared. “He was very welcoming and willing to teach me, expanding my knowledge. I was like, this is something that I would love to do, and it was amazing.”
The experience of being in a professional restaurant kitchen was eye-opening for Ndiki, giving him a deeper appreciation for the hard work chefs put into their craft. He even joked that people have often told him to open his own restaurant, but after witnessing the behind-the-scenes action, he’s rethinking that idea for now. “Maybe it’s not the best time for me to open a restaurant. Let me just do more research and be in the cooking space before making that decision. It’s inspired me to put more effort and respect into it,” Ndiki explained.
One of the key lessons he’s learned from this collaboration is the importance of plating meals. “Cooking is another thing, but you need to make it look great,” he added, emphasising how presentation plays a vital role in the dining experience.
Tempo Luxury, known for its upscale ambiance, has also partnered with other high-profile celebrities in the past. Last year, they teamed up with Somizi Mhlongo, as well as Metro FM, and have more celebrity collaborations planned for the future. “We aim to create a space for more creatives as we continue expanding within the hospitality industry,” shared the restaurant.
