Renowned South African fashion visionary Rich Mnisi is once again making waves in the fashion industry with the launch of his latest collection, “Icebergs & Corsets,” announced on his Instagram page. This bold collection features a cropped puffer hoodie with a cinched waist and corseted open rear, showcasing Mnisi’s signature blend of innovation and style.
Mnisi revealed the inspiration behind his collection’s backdrop, drawing from the theme of precision and performance in professions. “Mihloti (our A/ 24 collection) was inspired by the idea that we perform our professions, and the precision needed to execute a task is rehearsed,” Mnisi explained. “I wanted the Iris to rest where the model’s head would go, creating this unsettling feeling of someone observing you from the back, almost like a manager coming over to look over your work.”
But the innovation doesn’t stop there. Mnisi’s collection also includes “Athleisure & Edge,” featuring masterpieces of contour and comfort, and “Texture and Warmth,” a serene off-white knitted creation that sways with grace. Each piece embodies Mnisi’s commitment to elegance and form.
Mnisi’s collaboration with Sibusiso Kotelo, the first black South African bodybuilder to secure a pro card, adds another layer of depth to the collection. Together, they explore the art of bodybuilding and its connection to discipline and spectacle. The silver figures featured in the collection symbolise the dedication and reward inherent in mastering one’s craft.
