Nadia Nakai Reveals How Her Friendship With Bonang Ended. For a couple of years it looked like media personality Bonang Matheba and rapper Nadia Nakai were building a long lasting friendship and sisterhood. The relationship however ended with no explanation shared, at least publicly from both parties.
A few years later, Nadia Nakai ended up in a relationship with late rapper AKA, who had previously dated Bonang. Social media speculated this was the reason behind Bonang and Nadia’s friendship breakup, still they both chose not to address it. As it turns out, AKA was not the reason Nadia and Bonang’s friendship didn’t work out, at least according to Nadia.
Addressing the tension between herself and Bonang during the second episode of Africa Original Netflix reality show, Young, Famous & African‘s second season, Nadia told her cast-mate Swanky Jerry that they had an issue and it had not been sorted out. “We haven’t spoken since we had the issues,” Nadia said. Asked what it was about, Nadia danced around it saying that was besides the point.
“With my situation with Bonang then, I think I was more heartbroken ’cause I really felt like she was my sis. You know, things happen in relationships. You just fall out and it’s okay,” Nadia later explained in her diary session.
“I’m just respecting people’s wishes and keeping my distance. That’s all it is. But if he’s expecting me to be kumbay-ying, that’s not gonna happen,” Nadia added.
The ladies were given an opportunity to say something nice about each other during one of their group meetups. Bonang bluntly said she didn’t have anything nice to say about Nadia and the rest of the ladies. To which Nadia responded saying, “No, no, no, this is not build a ho.”
Whilst Bonang’s stay on the show only lasted for three episodes, she shared how she felt about Nadia giving her a cold shoulder on the first reunion saying, “I think people expect me to have an issue with Nadia, but I don’t have any desire to have any conversation with her. I think she made it very clear on day one how she feels, but other than that I don’t think we have anything to talk about.”
