Zozi Tunzi, the reigning Miss Universe of 2019, has made an unexpected move on her Instagram account, causing quite a stir among her followers and the pageant community. The South African beauty queen took the decision to unfollow the Miss South Africa pageant. She has also removed her Miss SA title from her Instagram bio. This move comes in the wake of her absence from the recent Miss SA 2023 finale held on 13 August.
Earlier, Zimoja had reported that Tunzi was set to cover her wardrobe expenses in the reality TV show Crown Chasers. This show featured a star-studded lineup including TV personality Bonang Matheba and actress Leandie du Randt.
However, there seemed to be some last-minute confusion and financial issues related to the wardrobe arrangements. A prominent fashion stylist hired to style Zozi was informed at the eleventh hour that he wouldn’t be receiving compensation from Miss SA. Instead, he was directed to invoice Tunzi directly. This unexpected turn of events behind the scenes led to speculation and raised eyebrows among fans.
Adding to the intrigue was the exclusion of Zozi Tunzi from the promotional materials for the Miss SA 2023 finale. The poster featured previous Miss SA winners, such as, Shudufhadzo Musida (2020), Lalela Mswane (2021), and Ndavi Nokeri (2022).
Speaking to The South African, the Miss South Africa Organization offered a statement, acknowledging ZoziTunzi’s busy schedule. Additionally, while they couldn’t comment on her social media activity, she remained welcome and celebrated at any Miss SA event. As the situation continues to unfold, it remains to be seen how this unexpected shift in Tunzi’s relationship with the Miss SA pageant will influence her ongoing role in the beauty and entertainment industry.
