Zolisa Xaluva Reveals How His Parents’ Separation Affected Him. The actor recently sat down with Nounouche Lifestyle Magazine to be interviewed by actress Mmabatho Montsho. His interview covered a variety of topics pertaining to his love of acting, leaving a legacy and how his parents’ divorce impacted him.
Speaking to Mmabatho about his upbringing and his love for acting, Zolisa says that as a child growing up in the mid 80s and 90s he had a penchant for movies. Like many other kids too in the townships, he said he had been overly obsessed with action movies in particular. Movies that had Jackie Chan, Sylvester Stallone and Jet Li as action heroes had him glued to the TV screen as he had been privileged to have M-NET at his parents house.
However, the actor reveals there were some life challenging transitions that disrupted his growing journey that he had to endure. Zolisa’s home life was drastically changing with his parents’ separation and having to move to a new home. And as a result of having to move to a new home because of the separation he was subjected to the insidious political tensions in the country that affected where one could live safely.
When Zolisa’s family first moved to Gauteng, they were forced to flee from the then East Rand to Soshanguve to avoid the Xhosa/Zulu conflicts between the Inkatha Freedom Party and ANC political parties.
