Zee Nxumalo is quickly making a name for herself in the music industry with her powerful voice and versatility. From Afro-soul to gqom and amapiano, Zee’s voice effortlessly turns any genre into a hit. At just 21 years old, the rising star from Alexandra, north of Joburg, believes that versatility is key to success in the music industry. Speaking to Daily Sun, she explained why she’s embracing different genres on her latest project, Inja Ye Game.
“I did different genres on the EP. It feels good to explore,” Zee said. “As an artist, you should never box yourself. It’s good to know what you do and how far you can go, but I think I allow myself to go around.”
Her fans have been supportive of her growth, and Zee is grateful for the love. “I feel great, and I reflect on everything. It inspires me to work harder,” she shared.
Zee has experienced several stages in her career, each with its own set of challenges and rewards. “When you’re struggling, it’s a stage. It will pass. Being the most talked-about artist is also a stage,” she said. But with the success of her hit single Ama Gear and her growing recognition, Zee is clearly enjoying a moment of triumph.
One of the biggest highlights of her career so far has been her work with brands. “It’s been a lot, but right now, it would be working with brands. I’m working with a super dope brand,” she revealed.
Her new EP, Inja Ye Game, is more than just a collection of songs—it’s a declaration of her artistic freedom. “This project captures my journey over the past year. It’s been a whirlwind of performances, personal growth, and a deep dive into what makes me me,” Zee explained. “I don’t want to be boxed in. I’m not just an amapiano artist, not just an Afro-pop artist. I’m a star without limits.”
