“You’re The Reason Mama Fell Into Depression” Lwandle Ndaba Opens Up About Lyrics On Diss Track To Max Lichaba. Sophie Ndaba’s rapper son Lwandle “Ocean L” Ndaba had the internet buzzing after he dropped some files on his step father’s abusive ways in a diss track. The song is titled My Step father Is A Devil and the rapper not only names and shames his step father Max Lichaba but he makes sure to air out all the dirty laundry from his marriage.
This is the former Generations star’s third failed attempt at marriage after Ndaba and Lichaba tied the knot in a traditional wedding in 2018. According to Lwandle’s song, Max has been probably the worst partner to his mother because of his devilish ways. In the song, Ndaba raps about the times he physically abused the actress and eventually drove her into depression.
Lwandle also revealed that Max cheated on Sophie with his best friend who is young enough to be his daughter. According to the 21 year old rapper, his step father used his mother for her fame and money and left them struggling to put food on the table.
Opening up to Sunday World about why he released the song, the Music Performance student shares how witnessing his mother struggle financially and mentally as a child because of her partner Max Lichaba was not easy and he is expressing the trauma he witnessed the only way he knows how, which is through his music.
“As a child witnessing the painful past few years, I have found a way to channel my pain and frustration after watching my mother’s health and finances go on a downward spiral due to the actions of her significant other, my stepfather Mr Max Lichaba. I saw the journey that my mother went through and I am expressing my feelings through music as I study music performance. I was hurt and I experienced trauma.” He said.
The most challenging part of witnessing the pain that his step father caused his mother was being helpless in the situation out of respect for his mother’s wishes to keep the situation silent. The silence was then channelled into the song which was composed out of frustration caused by his step father Max Lichaba.
He began experiencing nightmares but kept quiet about the bad dreams until he put his thoughts into song. He shared that he is no longer able to be a bystander while witnessing the abuse of his mother out of fear of threats already received by him and his family. One of the highest causes of death of women in South Africa is Gender Based Violence and Lwandle is not about to wait until his mother became a statistic.
“The hardest part about watching the events unfold was that I was not able to help her because I was supportive of her decision to remain silent. My silence was channelled into a song that I composed out of fear and frustration at the hands of my stepfather. I recently started getting nightmares and kept them to myself until one night I just decided to turn my pain to song. Hence this song now. I am no longer able to be a silent bystander due to the threats received by myself and my family despite keeping the peace. In a country where gender-based violence is a plague, I do not wish to wait for my mother to become a statistic at the hands of my stepfather any longer.” He said.
Lwandle shared his relief after dropping the things that have been burning him inside for years. Max responded to the allegations and refuted all claims made in the song stating that he would never hurt the people he love and has never laid a hand on any woman especially the woman he loves.
