Thandaza and Ranthumeng edding celebration

The cast of Muvhango has apparently gone without pay yet again.

Everyone from the main characters to the extra’s of the soapie did not get their January remuneration.

A source told Sunday Sun that the actors were meant to be paid on Friday but when Friday came, they got nothing. Maybe the company that the cast of Muvhango work for should consider implementing something like Payroll Software, as this way they’d be able to monitor everyone’s hours worked and hopefully pay everyone on time.

“The problem is they were not warned that there would be delays in salary payments,” claimed the source.

Insiders close to the actors claim the actors and production staff have been calling the payroll department and executive producer Duma ka Ndlovu but have not been successful.

“Leading the fight is Duma’s younger brother who has been calling management to demand his salary. Duma says they’ll get paid – but he’s not saying when,” said the insider.

The source also added that the unpaid actors have been complaining about not having petrol money or any money for public transport to get themselves to work.

Publicist for Muvhango Amanda Ngudle refused to comment when she was approached and referred all enquiries about the rumours to the executive producer. Amanda apparently told the Sunday SunTeam: “I don’t deal with matters of management, I only deal with personal stories.”

Producer of Muvhango Duma could not be reached for comment. His personal phone rang continuously unanswered, and his office phone had been left on voice mail.

What is happening with all these local soapie’s? Should we prepare for a Muvhango boycott soon? Or a Muvhango: The Legacy?
