On the eventful Friday of September 29th, South African rapper Priddy Ugly, whose real name is Ricardo Moloi, sent shockwaves through the Instagram feeds of his one million followers. In a surprising twist, he unveiled his decision to release his final album and bid adieu to the music-making scene.

With a career spanning an impressive 15 years, Priddy Ugly has etched his name in the annals of South African music history. He’s renowned for delivering chart-topping hits like “30 Minutes to Soweto,” “02HERO,” “Soil,” and many more. In 2018, he made a bold move by parting ways with his record label, Ambitiouz Entertainment, in pursuit of an independent musical journey, as reported by The Citizen. Yet, merely four years after taking control of his destiny, the rapper stunned fans with the revelation of his impending retirement from the music industry following the release of his upcoming album, titled “Dust.”

Additionally, in a heartfelt message, Priddy Ugly reflected on his remarkable journey, stating. “From the soil we came, and to the dust we shall return. It’s been 15 years. That’s 3 albums and 3 mix-tapes. That’s 5 EPS, 500 features, and thousands of verses. Millions of minds blown—that’s word to my pen.” He shared his gratitude for the unwavering support of his fans. Acknowledging the profound impact they’ve had on his life and career. He mused about the personal growth he’s experienced, including embracing the roles of husband and father. While navigating the complex terrain of friendships, successes, setbacks, and the omnipresent undercurrent of love.

In addition, as the rapper’s message continued to resonate with his audience. Priddy Ugly dropped the bombshell: “Dust” will mark the culmination of his musical journey. With a touch of humility, he thanked his dedicated fans for their enduring patience and support. In his signature style, he signed off with a simple yet powerful message: “Love Ricardo.”

However, the announcement sent ripples across social media platforms, sparking an outpouring of emotions from fans and peers alike. Zulumecca expressed gratitude, saying, “Thank you for your Art. Honoured to have played a part in the Priddy Ugly journey. God bless you, brother.” Unarams paid tribute, acknowledging Priddy Ugly’s legendary status in the industry: “Thank you for playing a huge role in the music industry. You’re a legend!” Meanwhile, Icysax shared a mix of excitement and sorrow. Feeling torn by the prospect of a final drop from a favorite artist: “Pov. when your favourite artist says he’s about to drop but also says it’ll be his last drop.” And Tanaka.bento summed it up, asserting that Priddy Ugly would undoubtedly be remembered as one of the most underrated talents. “Will go down as the most underrated for sure. Unlucky to the Hommies that slept.”

In conclusion, Priddy Ugly’s retirement marks the end of an era in South African music. Leaving fans to cherish the legacy of a true musical pioneer while eagerly anticipating the release of “Dust” as a final chapter in an extraordinary career.
