The first episode of MacG’s Podcast With MacG celebrity edition has premiered after securing a new home on DSTV Channel O. The first guest on the notorious podcast is award winning vocalist Zahara, and her interview definitely left the masses talking. Apart from speaking about her personal life, the singer also spoke about her success and those who have wronged her.
One of the first things that she addressed is her alleged alcohol problem.
The singer claims that she does not have a drinking problem as nobody has ever seen her holding a drink. The Nqaba Yam hitmaker revealed that she only started drinking at the age of 24 when she arrived in Johannesburg. Zahara spoke of the first drink that she has ever had which was a glass of Jameson whiskey, and she remembers it being ugly by she drank it because it made her feel free.
“We were at a party I think 2012 and I think it was a glass of Jameson” she said.
Zahara made it clear that she did not turn to alcohol upon moving to Johannesburg but rather was turned to alcohol by the public. Although she has never been spotted with an alcoholic beverage, there are always sources who claim that she is drinking and she has no idea where these ‘so called’ sources get their information.
“All I want to know is who is this source. Is it a mayonnaise or a tomato sauce because what I do in my house is none of your business” she said.
The singer is convinced that the only thing that the media is supposed to be concerned about is her music because if she wants to have a glass of champagne, she doesn’t need their permission to do so. She also addressed the recent video of her that went viral where she was singing a song with a group of gentlemen and the masses accused her of being drunk.
Zahara claims that people don’t know that she is an actress and she was acting in that video which is why they were laughing. She added that she has no clue who leaked the video but she doesn’t think it was done maliciously. Zahara apparently has a lot of other unseen videos where she is acting drunk, and she also happens to be one heck of an impersonator specializing in mimicking Nelson Mandela and DJ Sbu.
Although they did not really associate with each other anymore, all those who have followed Zahara’s music journey will know that DJ Sbu also had a helping hand in making things happen for her. It seems like they are not really in the best of terms at the moment after Zahara revealed that she was exploited by the DJ while they were working together.
The award winning vocalist highlighted that she would not vhange anything in her music journey as it all contributed to making her the woman that she is today.
“I don’t regret the kind of woman that I am now, it has grown me and today I know what steps to take or not” she said.
