Watch! Azana On How She Caught Sun-El Musician’s Attention. The singer recently sat down with the ‘Episode ZA’ podcast, where she talked about a variety of things related to music and also how one of South Africa’s well-known DJs and music producers Sun-El discovered her.
In the interview, the ‘Your Love’ singer got to share how passionate she has always been about music and always dreaming of being in Johannesburg to pursue her music career. She further stated that as a student at the University of the Free State (UFS) she was lucky to have been granted the opportunity to perform at a small music event. Musician Sino Msolo (who was a UFS student too) had asked her at one time to stand in for a female singer who couldn’t pitch up for a performance and so she decided to grab the opportunity with two hands.
She further went on to express that Sino was a blessing in disguise as at one time he had asked her to start posting videos of herself singing and tagging producers. She had been reluctant at first but tried it and it worked and that’s how it led to Sun-El Musician discovering her. He had even sent her a DM so they could possibly cook something up.
“Sino Msolo started telling me to tag big producers which is something that I did not do before I met him on social media, because I was posting videos of me performing and singing all the time and I said no. I waited for a couple of weeks until I got the video that I thought was gonna be good enough to tag someone on. I tagged Sun-EL and a few more people and Sun-EL loved the video. I was singing Msaki’s song and then he DMed me ‘Hey’ and I was like: ‘Yes, this is the beginning of something beautiful,’“ Azana revealed.
