In a recent interview on Podcast and Chill with MacG, renowned media personality Unathi Nkayi dropped a bombshell that has left the South African entertainment world buzzing. Unathi, known for her candor, revealed that she is preparing to take legal action against her former employer, Kaya FM, alleging that the radio station recorded her without her consent, a move she claims is both illegal and a breach of her rights.
During the interview, Unathi didn’t hold back as she outlined her grievances. She accused Kaya FM of secretly recording staff conversations even when the microphones were off-air and then distributing these recordings internally. MacG, the podcast’s host, was visibly surprised, pointing out that while recording equipment might constantly be on, doing so without consent is indeed a serious violation. Unathi agreed, adding that this act of unauthorised recording opens the door for a significant lawsuit. She further mentioned that the leaked recordings had caused her emotional suffering, reputational damage, and loss of income, leading her to consider multiple legal avenues, including a defamation lawsuit.
The podcast episode has already sent ripples across social media, particularly on X (formerly Twitter). Clips from the interview have sparked widespread discussion, with many users tagging Sizwe Dhlomo, Unathi’s former colleague at Kaya FM and the person at the center of the fallout.
The feud between Unathi and Sizwe, which initially led to her exit from the station, has been reignited by these revelations. Sizwe, never one to shy away from controversy, responded to the clips in typical fashion. In a series of tweets, he downplayed Unathi’s allegations, referring to her lawsuit as “nonsense” and dismissing her claims with scathing remarks. “She’s the one who lied about me & is now trying to sue the station because I proved that she’s a liar,” Sizwe tweeted, adding that he remains secure in his position at Kaya FM.
The back-and-forth between the two media heavyweights has captivated social media users, with many expressing disappointment that the once-inspirational duo cannot seem to reconcile. One user pleaded with Sizwe to consider making peace, to which he bluntly replied, “Nah, there’s nothing to resolve. She made her bed…”

Also, a matter going to the High Court is not determined at will. All civil matters of R 400 k or more have to go there. She’s the plaintiff, she should know why her lawyers filed there. Stupidity nje, all around.
