Media personality Unathi Nkayi is mourning the loss of her father, Sakhiwo Nkayi, whom she once described as her “spiritual twin.” In a brief statement the former Idols SA judge expressed deep sadness over his passing, saying:

“It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of our beloved father. A true treasure to us all, a great father, beloved friend and uncle to many. He now joins his lineage at their final resting place. We appreciate your love and support during this tough time.”

According to The Citizen, Unathi’s relationship with her father was very special. In 2023, on his birthday, she shared a touching message describing their bond: “This guy is my spiritual twin, like my son… we’re November babies. All three of us,” she wrote.

Taking to Instagram on December 31, Unathi announced the sad news of his passing, reflecting on how her father was her moral compass, confidence booster, style icon, and a source of sound advice.

“Guys, I love my father because he has been a father to my sisters and me, and a great one at that. When you get annoyed with my feistiness, know that it is because of my fellow Scorpio who raised me to be like this.”

The news has prompted an outpouring of condolences from fellow celebrities, including comedian Celeste Ntuli, actor Thapelo Mokoena, and presenter Kayise Ngqula, all offering their support during this difficult time.
